Description

T.rex dino 2 in plush from Hansatoy, and the story behind it.

Hansatoy, also known as Hansa Creation, is the world’s largest manufacturer of plush animals in 1:1 scale from sparrows to giant elephants.
The program consists of more than 3000 different animals. (However, we “only” have about 400 animals in stock in Denmark)
Hansa animals look so much like the real ones that you often can’t tell the difference from meters away.

The animals are used both privately, but also extensively by companies and institutions as eye-catchers in exhibitions, at trade fairs, etc.

Companies like Coca Cola, 20th Century Fox and many others use HansaCreation in marketing and film

All animals are handmade, using between 5 and 20 different materials for each animal.

About T.Rex in the real world in the past:

Tyrannosaurus rex, often just called T. rex, is one of the most famous and iconic dinosaurs that ever lived. The name means “tyrannical king lizard”, which is fitting for this huge predator that reigned as one of the top links in the food chain around 68 to 66 million years ago in the late Cretaceous period. Although long extinct, T. rex still fascinates scientists and dinosaur enthusiasts around the world.

T. rex lived in what is now North America and its fossils have been found in Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming, among other places. With a length of up to 12-13 meters, a height of around 4 meters at the hips and a weight of 7-9 tons, T. rex was one of the largest terrestrial predators known. It had a massive skull, powerful jaws and teeth up to 30 cm in length – perfect for crushing bones and tearing meat.

One of the most impressive things about the T. rex was its biting power. Studies have shown that it could bite with a force of over 5 tons – stronger than any living land animal. This immense force allowed the T. rex to bite through bone and access the marrow, giving it a nutritional advantage.

T. rex also had impressive eyesight and a well-developed sense of smell, suggesting that it was an active hunter – although some scientists have previously speculated that it may also have been a scavenger. Today, most paleontologists believe that T. rex probably both hunted and ate dead animals, depending on what was available – like many modern predators.

Although its body was massive and powerful, the T. rex had very small forelimbs that were only about a meter long. These tiny arms have long been the subject of speculation and jokes, but recent research suggests that they may have actually had a function, such as holding onto prey or assisting in mating. Either way, they certainly haven’t prevented the T. rex from being a successful hunter.

Another important recent discovery is that T. rex and other large theropods may have had feathers – especially as juveniles. Although T. rex adults were likely covered in scales, they may have had feathered parts on their bodies, especially during adolescence, providing new insights into dinosaur evolution and their close connection to birds.

T. rex became extinct during the great mass extinction 66 million years ago, caused by a huge asteroid impact in what is now the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. This event led to massive climate change, darkening of the skies and collapse of ecosystems – which hit the large, terrestrial dinosaurs especially hard. T. rex and its contemporaries disappeared, but its legacy lives on in both fossils and the modern fascination with dinosaurs.

Today, the T. rex is not only an important piece in our understanding of evolution, but also a cultural superstar. It appears in movies, books, games and museums around the world. T. rex fossils are among the most valuable and spectacular finds, and the skeletons of specimens like “Sue” and “Stan” draw millions of visitors.

In short, the T. rex is a testament to the diversity and power of nature. Its story reminds us how life on Earth has changed over millions of years – and how fragile it can be, even for a king.
